John Michael Hayes - Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy

It is hard to believe that I have been doing this work for more than three decades now. As a psychologist-psychoanalyst, I have helped many, many folks wrestling with life’s difficulties.

My interest and passion have been depth psychology and the human spirit. I have been a life-time student of Jung and Freud, philosophy, theology and contemporary psychoanalysis. I have completed more than ten years of post-doctoral clinical training in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

Decades of psychotherapeutic work convince me that people fare much better when, with support and guidance, they take the time and muster the courage to really open up and face their problems, pains, and challenges. When their inner life is given the intense attention its complexity demands, necessary changes and difficult decisions are made with integrity, confidence, and wisdom. The only real way “out” is “through”.

I offer psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, couples, families, and groups. I provide consultation/supervision for psychotherapists interested in psychoanalytic work. For more than a decade, I was involved in the graduate training of psychotherapists and psychiatrists, presented many continuing education programs for psychologists, and served on the faculties of a couple of post-graduate training programs.
